Mario was the manager of "Shop Rite" grocery. He brought his nephew, Francisco, to America for the summer to work, learn better English, and learn more about our culture. Francisco was movie star handsome! His jet black, wavy hair was always groomed and shiny. His perfectly straight, white teeth shone brightly as they contrasted sharply with his dark skinned face when he smiled. The pupils of his eyes could not be seen because they were swallowed up by dark brown. He was tall, thin, and carried himself very confidently. He was handsome ... and he knew it! We had a very attractive lady that shopped with us frequently. When she came in, all of the guys would scramble to carry her groceries to her car. Francisco saw her. He walked right up to her. She had to stop to keep from running over him! He told her in his broken English, "I mus hav to sa tu yu ... yu are a buutiful pearson!" She was a little embarrassed yet she thanked him and left the store. I told him that you are not supposed to do that. He didn't understand why not, she was pretty and he simply told her. "I don't know why not," I explained, "just don't do it!"
One evening I asked Francisco to stock an item on aisle 4. He looked at me puzzled and asked, "What is Iuhl?" Always willing to teach, I showed him that an "aisle" had two things on each side with a long space in the middle. His eyes lit up. As he tried to understand the concept of an "aisle" he asked if it was like in your home, where you have two bedrooms, a bathroom, and the long space in the middle. "Eease tat an Iuhl?" "No", I responded, "that is a hall." "What Ease de deeffrince?", he asked. I thought a moment and said, "I don't know, just go stock the aisle!"
Sometimes we just know stuff. We may not know why or why not it's true, but it's just true! We take things we know for granted. Let's stop and think about the great truths we have learned from God and apply them to our lives. Peter said in 2 Peter 1:12 "Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth." You know you know the truth, now all you have to do is "remember" that you know!
