With only four rooms in the house (not including the forbidden closet) the back porch became valuable floor space. There was more than one appliance back there. There was an old brown refrigerator that we used for one of our challenges. The idea was to see how long we would stay in the refrigerator before we screamed for help. The only problem was the refrigerator locked from the outside (do you remember those?). We depended on the other to let us out! Dale went in first. As soon as the door clicked I could hear his muffled screams. I immediately opened the door. This would be an easy win for me! I crawled into the refrigerator. As soon as the door clicked I wanted to scream. I could see why Dale was so scared, but I had to win. Just a couple more seconds. When I was sure I had defeated Dale in this challenge I scream ed. The door did not open! My screams turned to begging and pleading, still the door did not open!
Dale had simply went inside where Mama was working! Mama, seeing Dale without me, asked where I was. Dale casually told her that I was locked in the refrigerator on the back porch! Friendly competition is ok unless winning becomes more important than your friendship! We are warned in Proverbs 22:24
"Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:" If the "Friendly Competition" is going to turn into anger - watch your back!
