I would knock him down during play time and this would set him off. I could see the anger in his eyes. Of course I did the right thing - I ran! When he caught up with me, he would bury his fist in the soft spot between my shoulders. I could feel the anger well up inside me. My eyes turned red with fury. When he saw this he did the right thing - he ran! When I caught up with him, I would deliver a crushing blow into his soft spot between his shoulders. He would stop short, scream with pain, then turn to execute revenge. Then I would think, "What am I doing?" as I turned and ran! This would continue until we called a truce and went back to playing as if nothing ever happened.
God advises us to "Fight the good fight" and "Earnestly contend" for our faith. He also tells us to "Flee" things like "youthful lust" and "idolatry". The wise among us know when to fight and when to flee. Don't be scared to fight, but don't be ashamed to flee. Whatever you do, never call a "truce" with the devil and start playing with him. He doesn't play that game!
