During my stay at Frankfort Road church of Christ there were several preachers. Maury Deaton, Bruce Blankenship, George Vinson, Don McGee, Dale Azbell, and a man with black hair and round rimmed glasses who I want to say is "Rex", but I can't remember. I was influenced by a number of people; Shikles, Willinghams, Wagnons, Rikards, Reids, Henrys, and others. It was definitely a "turning point" in my life.
Growing older helped me to realize that it was costing the church time and money to send the van to pick us up. What I took for granted for a long while, I was beginning to appreciate the value. I sincerely believe that group of folks would have driven to Mississippi to get me, but there was a better way. Limerock church of Christ was a few miles south of our house. The Holt family lived a couple miles north of us. They passed our house every service going to Limerock. They offered to stop and pick us up. No cost, no trouble, no problem. It just made sense. We would make the change.
I didn't know it at the time, but Limerock would become another "turning point" in my life. As Esther was told in Esther 4:14 "... who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" I believe God puts us in places, gives us opportunities, allows people to come into our lives, etc. to help us grow closer to Him. What we do with those things is entirely up to us!
