They say that the honey bee population is suffering. Just from personal observation I believe that is true. Whenever we wanted to watch the honey bees do their busy work, we simply went into the back yard. Not only could you find a honey bee, you could find bumble bees, wasps, yellow jackets, and hornets. They were everywhere! Being stung was almost a daily occurrence. Daddy kept a wad of "Red Man" chewing tobacco in his toothless mouth. He said it helped keep his gums tough. When you got stung, you would run to Daddy. He would pull a chunk of wet tobacco from his mouth and slap into onto the sting mark. Within minutes you could hardly tell you had been stung.
While sitting on the couch on the porch (of course there was a couch on the porch), we were watching two black hornets fight each other in midair. It was intense! Suddenly their bodies became fastened together and the two of them flew straight into Dale's face! They both stung him just below his eye! In seconds there was just a slit in the space where his eye was supposed to be. This was a true job for a large "Red Man" poultice.
Who knows what changes this earth will see. Whether it is a lower bee population, a melting ice cap, or a bigger hole in the Ozone layer. Things change. But there is one thing we can count on - Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."
