Jamie was just a young girl when we first met at Barton Church of Christ. She had a baby sister, Jennifer. I didn't know her parents, James & Nancy, at the time. Jamie became a Christian. Later, she and Jennifer began attending Chapel Hill Church of Christ. Every Sunday night, 15 minutes before worship began, I would bring the young people to the front pews and teach a short lesson. It was fun for me to watch Jamie and the others laugh and learn!
Jamie influenced her sister and her parents to become Christians. In fact, I have only baptized two people in the river ... James & Nancy! Jamie influenced her husband, Shane, and her older son, Douglas, to follow Christ. She is teaching her younger son to adhere to Jesus' principles too! Here is the kind of heart she is training her son to have (Jamie wrote this August 7th, 2014):
"Kids say the sweetest things sometimes... As we are driving to work this morning, Elijah said hey momma
I say yes Elijah
Elijah: I'll share my mawmaw and pawpaw with you since you don't have yours anymore...
I told him thank you...I could have cried!"
I trust that Jamie doesn't mind me sharing the above quote. It is an example of "The Ripple Effect".
Someone tossed "Christ, the Rock" into the "pond" of Jamie's life. This generated a "ripple" that extended throughout her life, touching her parents, sibling, spouse, children, extended family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, ... and on and on it goes! These "ripples" will continue to have an impact on the lives of people until Jesus returns! Whose life will you affect today with Christ? You could cause a "ripple" that will change many lives! Jesus clearly understood "The Ripple Effect" - Acts 1:8 "... ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." He started a lot more than a "ripple"!!!
