It was one of the darkest crawl spaces I had ever been in! Usually there were foundation vents that would let some light peer through. There were no vents! The crawl space door let some light in, but my work was on the opposite side of the house! It was one of those dark spaces that you literally couldn't see your hand in front of your face!
I found an outside outlet and plugged in my 100 foot extension cord with my drop light. It took a few minutes, but I made it to the work area and began. Suddenly everything went pitch black! Had my bulb shot? It was brand new! I didn't bring a flashlight or another bulb. There was only one thing to do, feel my way out of there. After many careful hand and knee maneuvers, I finally emerged from the crawl space and found the home owner standing there with the end of my extension cord in his hand! "Is this yours?" he asked. "I was wondering who had plugged it in!"
Why would he simply unplug it without investigating where it was going or what it was doing? That's what we often do to our fellow man! We go around making decisions, saying things, and doing things that could affect the "light" of some other person. Paul criticized some folks in Romans 2:19 "And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness," He was upset with them because they believed they were providing "light", when in reality they were putting others in the dark! Before we make a decision today to "unplug" something ... be careful to make sure it is not someone's "light"!
