Bob McWilliams is one of the elders at Red Rock Church of Christ. He owned and operated a Dairy Farm years ago. This was at a time when they delivered milk to the customer's door in glass bottles! Over the years he has served in various industries as he educated his children, all of whom became very successful in their chosen profession. Bob helped with the education of an untold number of children by his service on the school board. Education was very important to him. Children were important to him. Everyone was important to him! He simply served. Among all the noble civic organizations doing so much good work, Bob chose the one that has the motto "We Serve"! The Lion's Club.
I remember hearing about the Lion's Club when I was growing up. They had helped our family during those rough times. That's about all I knew about them. When I saw the Lion's Club pin on Bob's tie, I asked him about them. He invited me to their next meeting to find out more. Wow! When I found out about all the good things they were involved in, not just locally, but internationally, I wanted to be a part of it! Though their main focus is on services for the blind, they help people with all sorts of needs. On January 27th, 2004, I was inducted as a member of the largest service organization in the world!
The Lion's Club is not a "Religious" organization, but, as one life-long member put it, it's certainly a great place to put your religion to work! James put it this way; James 2:16 "And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?" What will I do today to exercise my Christianity?
