Saturday mornings (when it was too cold or rainy to be outside) we watched cartoons! Some were cartoons like Bugs Bunny and Super Friends. Others were shows like Sigmund and the Sea Monsters; The Bugaloos, and H. R. Pufnstuf. Who didn't love Witchiepoo?
To start the Saturday morning line up was a local show called "Earline in Storyland". She came on right after the station came on (back then the station signed off at night and signed back on the next morning - if you tuned into the station at night, you would just see colored bars). You had to get up early to see Earline! We did! She dressed in a little girl's dress, talked to the stuffed animals, and told us all a story.
One day while sitting in a waiting room for one of us to see a doctor, a lady walked in. She strolled to the receptionist. Daddy punched me and said, "Do you know who that is? It's Earline!" I couldn't believe it! Earline in Storyland was standing right there! She didn't look exactly like she looked on T.V., but what could I expect, in "real life" she was in "full color"! I was delighted! Who knew, maybe if we sat there long enough Witchiepoo would come in!
Solomon said in Proverbs 20:11 "Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right." Makes me wonder what having a crush on Witchiepoo means?
