Winston was one of the hardest workers I have ever met. He worked at Allen's Air Conditioning, Inc. for several years. There can be no doubt that he made a positive impact on the company. When he got to the job site, he raced to the work area and began evaluating. Where would he park the truck? Where is the access hole? How much room did he have to work with? How would he get electricity to the work area? All these questions (and much more) were being answered as his mind's eye saw exactly how the ductwork would be installed before the truck was even unloaded! Winston was very kind and soft hearted, but he spent very little time "warming up" to the homeowners. Getting the job done was always first and foremost on his mind. Nothing else really seemed to matter.
Helen Keller's Birthplace did not a have central heating and air conditioning system. Captain Keller didn't even know such things would be available. We couldn't blame him for not leaving us enough room in the crawl space for ductwork! Digging a trench beneath the floor was the only option. After that was done, Winston was called in to install the ductwork. In his usual style, Winston began evaluating the area. With a cross look on his face he complained, "Man, we could back the truck right here if that pump wasn't in the way!"
That "pump" was a significant part of Helen Keller's story that has inspired many to do great things! That day, that "pump" was just in Winston's way! We often miss the "valuable things" in life because of our immediate concerns. Someone put it like this, "We can't see the forest because of the trees!" Jesus said it like this in Matthew 13:14 " ... and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:" What have we being missing because we have been too busy? What does God want us to see today?
